Approved by Maple the cat. (Yes, that's her)
Maple is our beloved rescue cat. She was put up for adoption by a family that had 10 cats. We couldn't understand why she was put up for adoption because she is such a perfect cat.
When we walked around the mountain, she would follow us without a leash, always careful not to get too far behind or too far ahead. She would even come when you called her name. Because of this friendliness, Mom started calling little Maple a "kitty cat dog."
From the beginning, she was going to be a family pet, sharing her time between North Carolina and the Florida. However, when she was about two years old, tragedy struck - - she was found shot by a pellet gun and couldn't move. X-rays showed the pellet lodged close to her spine. With time and therapy, she has regained upper body motion but still cannot use her rear legs.
Maple is an inspiration because she does not let being a parapalegic affect her life. Despite being much slower because she has to drag her hindquarters, she still loves to go hunting!
